A Short Creative Intermission
Taking a week to work with a collection of stones, patterns, and symmetry.
For the past several months I’ve been writing about politics, the courts, and the forces reshaping American institutions. Those are important subjects, but they also require a lot of attention and energy.
So I’m taking a short break this week.
Instead of reading court decisions and political analysis, I’ll be working with something much quieter: patterns. I took some classes a couple years ago. Yesterday I revisited some of my patterns and it felt good…a relief.
Many of you know that I like to photograph stones—especially the ones I collect along the beaches of Lake Superior. When those photographs are mirrored and repeated, the shapes turn into unexpected designs.
My Procreate drawings are another source.
It’s a reminder that pattern and structure exist everywhere, if we slow down long enough to see them.
Politics will still be there when I return.
I hope you will be too.
Until next time — may something unexpected catch your eye.

Love the picture of your creative arrangement of stones……and listen, it’s a well-deserved break ………everyone needs a vacation especially a mental ‘get-away’. Thanks for all the info you’ve provided……questions answered and great links.
